We have been using the PIC16F628-04/P and -20/P for a year in our PIC
programmers.

Suddenly the lead times for further supply are 8-10 weeks and Mouser
Electronics says 'Not recommended for new designs'.

The Microchip website is obtuse trying to find out any information about
discontinued chips.

Can someone tell me

- what will replace the 16F628?
- where on the Microchip website to find such information?
