>... Cellphone service (sound quality) is not >great either... I'd argue against this point. I have cellular service through Verizon, and I live in a fairly small area (college town, <50k inhabitants, no major cities of more than 1 million within 150-200 miles), and only briefly have I ever regretted cutting my land line. Digital cellular service is rapidly invading even the most remote areas (my wife's whole family lives "out-of-town" by 20 or more miles, and we still get good service while visiting), and the digital quality is very high. We have two phones and more minutes than we ever need for $85 a month. Considering that our land line was costing us $35 a month for basic local service, no long distance, I think it's pretty good. Verizon also has excellent customer service, which is good, because the phones we've had all seemed to crap out and need replacing a few times before we got a good "keeper".
