After reading up on all the 'free' programmers it was quite obvious that = the Wisp628 was the one I wanted! What I did was build a JDM style = programmer on a solderless breadboard just to program the firmware for the 628. So all you need is some spare components and 5 minutes to make a = temporary programmer for it ;-).=20 _____ =20 Andr=E9 Miller =09 =09 -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list = [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU] On Behalf Of Anthony Van Herrewege Sent: 21 March 2004 11:55 PM To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: Re: [PIC]: Programmer ICSP. --- Jan-Erik Soderholm wrote: > Anthony Van Herrewege wrote : > > > > > You already need a working programmer to make > the > > > > Wisp. > > > > > > Wrong. > > > > > > Or maybe you could be more specific ? > > > > Actually, you do need one. > > Absolutly not !! > > > Take a look at the Wisp > > page. You are totally correct. I was just assuming that you (or who ever asked about a programmer, I can't remember) didn't want to buy anything and wanted to do everything by yourself. Of course, if you want to buy the chip or let someone else program the = PIC16 for you, then I'm sure this is an excellent choice.
