How many MCD does it need to be visible outdoors? The problem I have is historically I've always used LEDs from surplus sources, where most of the manufacturers specs are unavailable. (if you even know who the manufacturer is :o) So I'm not entirely sure what one will be like based on numbers in a book. At the moment I'm thinking the ones from Lumex, Digikey numbers 67-1116-ND, 67-1097-ND, 67-1105-ND, and 67-1098-ND 20Mcd, and 60 degree angle. If I had more time I'd order samples of all the likely candidates and evaluate them, but I need to be soldering them down by Monday.
