If you use DigiKey's online search, you can apply various filters to winnow the list down to something manageable. However, I suspect when you select: T 1-3/4 Diffused 100 degree Bright enough to see outdoors you will come up with zero options. If you are willing to give up the diffused and 100 degree, you can probably get there if you are willing to comprimise a bit on color. For some reason there seem to be more Amber/Yellow choices than yellow, and blue-green seems to play better with bright than the sickly yellow-green that passes for green in LEDs. Get ready to swallow hard, though. When you want bright, you aren't talking about pennies a piece, even in thousands. You might also look around at other suppliers. I'm generally a big fan of DigiKey, but for LEDs, especially bright ones, they seem to be a little pricey. If this is a one shot deal, you might try shooting a note off to B.G. Micro. They frequently have good pricing on bright LEDs, but their supply isn't very consistent, so if you can get it today there is no guarantee they will have it tomorrow. They also tend to have some that are much brighter than any of DigiKey's. Still not diffused, but maybe bright enough that you can put a filter in front and still see it. --McD ----- Original Message ----- From: "Denny Esterline" To: Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2004 9:22 AM Subject: [EE:] Led selection > Hey guys and gals, > > I'm about to buy a few thousand LEDs for a project and thought I might pick > your brains before I did. > > Need to be T1-3/4 size, wide viewing angle(100 degrees +), diffused lenses > in red, green, and yellow, visible outdoors and reasonably efficient > (battery powered devices). > > I was picking some out of the digikey catalog, but I'm a little overwhelmed > with all the available options at the moment, and wondering if any of you > might have already made this choice and had some suggestions. > > thanks, > -Denny > > -- > http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: > [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
