Not fixed yet, but the idea is that there will be new hardware, probably USB-only, and new firmware that can be used on both the old (Wisp628) hardware and the new (WispUSB?), which makes some additional features available. Update policy would be just like before: get yourself a blank 16F628(A), program it with the new firmware, replace the old chip, maybe keep it until you trust the new firmware. I don't yet see any need to switch to a 16F648A or another PIC. Using the new firmware will of course require a new XWisp, and the ancient wisp.exe will probably not be supported.
