Hi again. Just a few points... The reason *I* am doing this right now, is that I need an alternative to the Python based XWisp in about 1-2 weeks to be run at a site where they will be using Wouters Wisp628 and Dwarf boards (on my recomendation). No other specific reason. The reason they can't run the Python version (well, don't *want* to, maybe), is that they have a Cetrix terminal server based envrionment, and it's already slow as it is. With the overhead of the Python runtime environment, i don't think it would work any good. A native Windows EXE would probably work much better. (Yes, I *do* know about ZPL, but the decission was made to use a solution that could use "blank" PICs without any special treatment...) And, I regard this as an temporarily solution, until Wouter has the solution he mentioned in another port to this thread. Then I plan to replace my port with Wouters new solution. And it *looks* better to promote a solution where the software part is from the same source as the hardware. So when Wouter writes : "...but I think I will redesign the whole thing, except for the hardware..." I read between the lines "without Python..." :-) :-) Might be just hopefull thinking from my side... So to sum it up, I'm doing this now becuse I must. The outcome is free for anyone to use, and I don't plan any long term support of my parts of it (after Wouters new solution has comed to life). I'll keep the tech details between me and Rob until I/we have someting running on (under?) Windows. I'll keep in tuch !
