Hi. To the Wisp628 fan club... I'm currently working on a native Windows port of the XWisp Python script from Wouter van Ooijen. Native, in the sense that it will not require any large "runtime" environment, like the Python stuff does. XWisp2, as it is currently called, is built from the XWisp port for OS/2 that was made by Rob Hamerling, and I'm porting his code base (in C) to the Windows environment. I hope to have someting running in a couple of days. There was quite a few things to change. The OS/2 API's are a bit different from the (current) Windows API's. But to have Rob's well written and commented code helps a lot !! Anyway, I just wanted to say that, if there is someone who'd like to test it when I think it's working, I'll put up a kit with sources and EXE on my web. My work is done in Win2K and I'm using LCC as the C compiler and development environment. (I have no intention (today) to either test on or support anything like Win95/98/Me...) Now, there is actualy *one* question I'd like to ask right now... Part of the porting task is to add conditional compiling anyware where the OS/2 and Windows codes are different. This is to try to keep the code buildable on OS/2. May I just ask, is there anyone out there that wants a OS/2 version of XWisp (apart from Rob :-) ) ? One option would, of course, be to build an Windows-only version. The coding would be a little easier. On the other hand, there would then be two code streams and the question about keeping up with new features from Wouter, gets a little more complicated... Or perhaps it should be a single source buildable on Windows and Linux ? I don't know, I'll get this running first... Regards, Jan-Erik Svderholm -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
