Another good reason to use male headers is that the male connectors to go on cable are a lot harder to find. Because people tend to use the male headers on the PCb there is not the market for male headers on the cables, unless doing it for a specific reason, and that also tends to drive one into a different style connector. Another reason to use male headers on the PCB is that individual pins can be easily pulled out of the plastic piece to polarise them. If the number of pins in the cable connector is more than you need then apply polarising pieces in the appropriate holes (can be cut off pins pushed in at a pinch) to make sure the connector is put on in the correct position. -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
