I'm an old guy with bad eyesight so... how hard would it be to build an o= ven to cook your SMD PCB's in? /Ake -----Ursprungligt meddelande----- Fr=E5n: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]F=F6r Jake Anderson Skickat: den 5 mars 2004 17:38 Till: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU =C4mne: Re: [EE]: Hand soldering SSOP a friend of mine uses the same technique (he used to do an 80 pin part in an hour now he does 8 an hour, well actually now he works somwehere different but hey) the only difference he said was he then went along after solder and desol= der with a pin and pushed each pin on the chip, if it wiggled then it wasnt soldered ;-> -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of Paul James E. Then I go to the diagonally opposed corner and do the same. At this point I have two diagonally opposed corners that are soldered to the corresponding pads. I then solder the remaining pa= ds and pins no paying particular attention to keeping them from shorting to adjacent pins. I am more concerned with good wetting of the pin/pad junction. Once all the pads are soldered, I then go back with solder wi= ck and wick away all the excess solder. Once I get this done, and then cle= an up the remaining flux with flux remover, you can't tell my job from a machine soldered job. Actually you can, but just barely. This method h= as worked well for me for >10 years now on all pitch parts. It has just be= en more necessary with the finer pitch parts. Hope you have as much luck = as I have.
