Well, I finally resolved my issue with the hot swap controller by using a
opto isolator. The big issue was the difference between the board digital
ground that was isolated from the 48V ground, as there was a few volts
difference between them.  I used a PS2501 to test this, and it works, but
the package is a little big.  So I am looking for a recomendation of a very
small opto, working voltage is only up to 70VDC, no high voltage isolation
is really required, but price of course is a consideration.  Maybe I am
stuck with this package, but seems to me Sharp had some small packages, so
I'll look while waiting on a response.
