Great ideas. I tried to assemble the code for the project refered to in the= link replacing the 16F84 with 16F876 but get OPCODE errors (assembles fi= ne as is for the 16f84) guess I have to figure out what is giving me the = errors. I like the HELLO idea.=20 I was able to program my 16f876 using a JAL program and hooked up two LED's= and got them to flash in an alternating manner so some progress. I reall= y want to use assembler though so I will have to figure out first why I c= an not assemble the code for the 16f876 as I thought all 16F PIC's used t= he same instruction set but I guess not. Thanks for the ideas and help :-) -----Original Message----- From: Harold Hallikainen To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Date: Thu, 4 Mar 2004 21:22:56 -0800 Subject: Re: Newbie Question on Assembler code for 16f876 True! Maybe first get control over one segment, then get fancy from there. I was truly amazed when I got my first microprocessor project (MC6802) working. I wire wrapped a BUNCH of chips. First I used the internal 128 bytes of RAM and a MIKBUG ROM from Motorola. I also used their serial chip (MC6850, I think). I ran this into a Lear Siegler ADM-1 terminal ($1,200!!!). When the processor status registers popped up on the terminal, I was amazed! I then added RAM (1k x 4 chips) and built a cassette interface. Bought integer Basic from Southwest Technical Products and got my wire wrapped pile of chips to talk Basic! Truly amazing! Harold >> >>The first thing to do is flash LEDs, as you mentioned.
