I grew up in Chicago and my dad had an electronic design company he ran out of our basement. I used to impress my friends by plugging small value capacitors into an extension cord, put them in a metal garbage can, and plug the cord in. We got a kick out of the explosion and mess of foil that would line the garbage can. Only on one occasion the cap didn't blow, but the electrical conduits above our heads started vibrating and making a terrible groaning type noise as it seemed like the entire floor started vibarting and shaking. My father set a record for running down the stairs to see what we were doing. Needless to say we never blew up capacitors again. And I won't even go into the high voltage circuits we would attach to door knobs! Mike -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
