I'm looking at making a temperature monitor for a friend's home brewing setup. Eventually it will evolve into a PID control setup but I digress... :) Can anyone recommend a good sensor and probe setup to use for the monitor? Right now he has a bung welded into the keg, and we're thinking that we'll thread in a pipe that has the sensor in the end, which will extend to the center of the keg. I'm thinking about using a chip like the LM75 i2c temperature sensor, but I can't think of a good way of ensuring the chip will be measuring the actual water temperature. It will be inside the pipe, but what can I do to make sure the accurate temperature is conducted to the chip? Any suggestions for a dielectric compound that will conduct heat? The pipe is going to be stainless. The maximum temperature will probably be 100*C, but it could be more if the metal of the keg gets higher... I need an infrared thermometer now too. :) Alex -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you. See http://www.piclist.com/#topics
