I've only used the spark plug versions on reciprocating and pulse jet engines. They tend to be more for convenience as you don't require a separate hole in the cylinder head. For accuracy and ruggedness, a separate flush mount unit is the way to go. You can also get them heat shielded and water cooled as well. The latter set up is what we use to check for combustion stability and closed bomb testing. Kistler is the Cadillac and is carries a premium price. PCB is more affordable and they offer some lower priced charge amplifiers that you will need to interface these units. Anthony J.
