Issues know and acknowledged by Microchip, usualy are
in the errata sheets available from the device specific "home page".

I uses Farnell from Sweden. Over-night courier shipments from
a UK based store at a fairly low flat shipping cost. Nice service.

But since I don't know what "stuck in a rut" means, I can't
comment more on that...
