OPTUS  has prepaid phones and sim for $79 bux! Australian.  Samsung phone I
think but for 80 bux who cares, it really is a throw away item.
One of these would make sure that if you lost it or got it stolen whilst on
hols, then, oh well it only cost $79 dollars instead of the hassle of
replacing your regular phone, cancelling your sim, and waiting for a new
phone ( the biggest hassle of them all).

I saw this ad in a shop window the other day, I am not affiliated in any way
with OPTUS.

Just wondering about the "disposable" cellular phones in Australia.

My mom's headed down there in a few days, and she'd like it very
much to find an inexpensive cellular phone that can be purchased
at common locations, just to have in case she needs assistance
while touring.  I know they can be purchased here at gas stations
and electronics stores and just about anywhere; do similar services
exist there?

I believe she'll primarily in or near Sydney for most of the trip...
