Stuart, I wasn't implying folks here don't "roll their own." I just meant that compared to my skills and level of complexity in my designs, the projects I've seen and heard discussed here would not work with a board I could make myself. For example, the discussion of ATAPI communications via PIC or microwave/RF applications seem too finicky to put up with a hand-drawn or ironed-on trace. That's not to say that other DIY board makers can't do it. Here's my current evil-doctor-DIY lab: 2 gallons ferric chloride solution 1 fishtank with heater and bubbler 1 anti-fishtank-fall-over-brace-thing (plywood prop too prevent tipping) 1 laser printer 1 package of laser printer photo paper 1 el cheapo clothes iron Miscellaneous: acetone, lacquer thinner, flux remover, Scotch brand scrub pads, Sharpie markers, big ashtray, carton of cigarettes. Gustaf P.S. No, I don't smoke while I'm working with acetone or lacquer thinner. :) P.P.S. My landlord would hate me if he could get his head around what he might see in my apartment. > Folks here make some fine "DIY" boards. It's horses for courses.
