Was googling around for some info on a chip to drive with a pic to get
voice synthesis, and found this. Seems relatively new and powerful,
around $25 US retail qty 1. I am NOT connected with them or any of their
distributors, just thought it might be interesting to others.

control an internal five channel sound synthesizer to generate
on-the-fly, unlimited vocabulary speech synthesis and complex sound
