It dosen't use the Windows address book so is considerably more impervious to the various virii that try to send themselves to everybody. It has an anti-spam plugin and also has some very powerfull filtering abilities (you can even run a mailing list with it). Although it's not free (35 euros to register after the free trial) it's worth the money IMO http://www.ritlabs.com/ I also noticed that Mozilla have a separate mail client whilst I was downloading their Firefox browser recently. The email/usenet client is called Thunderbird.
