TTYL They claim that Atmel will be sending out some more "soon", but I registered before the "Out to lunch, back soon" message appeared. To me, besmirching one processor in favor of another seems silly. That's like saying "Why would you use a wrench when a hammer is clearly better?" In other words, they are two different tools, and while the differences in applications between PIC and AVR are narrower than the differences in applications between hammers and wrenches, sometimes (no doubt) one is preferable. That said, I've only barely just looked at the AVR, and I do like the fixed instruction time of the PIC a heck of a lot, but hey, I'll give them a shot. I don't know that you have to come up with an application that can *only* use the AVR, just one that uses it well. I suspect that almost any microcontroller based project can be done with several different processors, and I'd bet that more than one would fit very well.
