We made a number of test boxes with LCD's. We used clear plastic bubble package material behind some opaque overlay stickers. We mounted the display from the back with screws through the overlay and box metal with nylon standoffs. If you do a neat job, the display looks like a production product.

Good luck finding a custom size bezel on low quantities.
