I was answering a question. Is this one of those cases when botton posting

 Anyway here I quote from MPASM help:

"This directive is an instruction to the linker to generate bank selecting code to set the bank to the bank containing the designated <label>. "

So, I don't understand what you meant, but no; it is the linker the one generating the
bank selecting code. This is of course according to Microchip, personally I don't
care as long as the bank is properly selected.

About using Banksel with absolute code, I don't think so. But I don't know for
sure because I don't use absolute code. I don't have the time to check that now.
