I'm sitting not 8 feet from Olin right now. But assigning a personal moderator for him is a stupid idea -- nobody wants to be his "mommy". I've been working with him since about last May on various projects, and yes, he's much the same in person as he appears on the list, but you get a much better impression of his overall technical competence face-to-face. He really isn't that hard to work with if you stay on your toes. Frankly, I've never understood exactly why he spends so much time responding to messages that he feels are beneath him. He says that he's trying to keep the SNR of the list high, but he does it in such a way that a lot of off-topic traffic is generated anyway, so I'm not sure what the point is. Obviously, his website resources will remain available and you can still reach him off-list with specific questions. You can even post the responses if you want. But Olin doesn't feel any great need to be on the piclist, James is tired of dealing with Olin, and I think the list will get along just fine. -- Dave Tweed -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
