Though there are a far larger number of female engineers in the Engineering faculty than I expected (at my school at least), there is definitely a need for more. Some reasons why: 1. They are among the smartest people in the class. I'm not sure why, exactly, this is, but it is true. 2. They are some of the most involved people in the program. The only two candidates for Engineering Society President this year are female, and our IEEE Student Branch chair two years running is female. 3. They tell some of the dirtiest jokes, and don't hate you (where "you" is "me") for telling off-colour jokes. The difference between Engineering and basically any other faculty on this is almost like night and day. As an example: the cover of the Engineering student newspaper at McMaster is adorned with a certain symbol which shall remain nameless. About the only complaints I've ever heard are from Arts students who have never actually read it. (If they had, they'd be doing a lot more than complaining) 4. Ask most any male in an Engineering program if he'd like to see more women in the class. Those who don't use the aforementioned answers will have one decidedly more predictable :) Do with these observations what you will... I'm too far behind in my EM homework to analyze this stuff. (apologies in advance to anyone who finds this heterocentric or sexist - these are merely my observations) -Randy Glenn Computer Engineering and Management Year III, McMaster University Keith Kovala wrote: >>Make love, not war... :-) >> >> >> > >In a field predominantly male, I'm not interested in this proposition.
