It's not a question of liking someone or not, it's about name-calling and insulting people.

Earth, you mean?  No, it's a number of different political systems, depending on where you live, some of which
claim to be democracies.  And *here*, this list, isn't somewhere that anyone lives, and it certainly isn't a
democracy.  It couldn't be, because then nothing useful and relavent would get discussed at all!  James runs
it, according to established rules, and on that front what he says goes.

It's not the rest of us reading what Olin said that is the issue, it's the fact that the OP would have read
it, and it's an insult to him.  I don't know about anyone else, but I don't come here to be insulted and I
think it's absolutely right that any occurance of that should be stopped effectively - preferably before it
happens, by the rules outlawing it.

You're missing the point - it's the person it's aimed at that would be offended, not the rest of us.  And how
is anyone to know if something is going to upset them until they read it?  This shouldn't be a "safe" place to
be!

Why indeed!  Well I am replying to your message because it needed an alternative point of view, in my opinion.

It doesn't work like that.  There are rules, and James has said that Olin broke them.  "Voting" on it is
pointless and a waste of bandwidth.
