Hear Hear, James! I have struggled for 9 years on this list to pay attention to new members, be patient in answering simple questions, and to be patient with questioners that do not supply enough information. Perhaps I have countered a little bit of Olin's .. ah ... abruptness James' patience with poor Olin's excesses is longer than mine would have been. For those who have just tuned in, this has been a long struggle, since Olin has also contributed a lot of valuable expertise to this list. However, he has ignored warnings too many times for James' ability to tolerate his rudeness. The PIClist has been and continues to be an extremely valuable resource for me. I finally reached the point where I regularly answer more questions than I ask, but it took years and a few cuffs on the head from Olin. Each of these incidents makes more and more work for James, who is already overloaded and has burnt off three lifetimes worth of Karma dealing with the noise generated by these incidents. Despite the example of Dilbert, Engineers must realize that their social skills are as important as their technical skills, and no list like this can survive if newcomers are regularly insulted. Many people may think this list is about ASM code and C code and executing a task in under 9 machine cycles, but it is also about working together smoothly in groups of engineers. Whether you are a lone consultant working for clients or a Dilbert working for a Pionty Haired Boss, you still have to figure out how to work smoothly with people. No problem with me that the PIClist is not a democracy, but it is governed by a wise and restrained hand. -- Lawrence Lile -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
