Not exactly "public domain" from what I have read. Apparently W2K source code was "leaked", quite illegally. Microsoft are not admitting to this, but are investigating it all the same. Apparently, people have been able to compile the source to Windows 2000. And yes, if this was deliberate, it does jeopardize some important open source projects such as Wine and Reactos. If these developers even *look at* this source code, it could be construed by MS that the open source projects these people are working on are then "tainted", and that they are in breach of copyright. Not a good thing, by any stretch of the imagination. If this is silly games by MS, then they are just as bad as SCO in my book.
