I ordered one 16F876 through a local electronics shop about 2 months ago. If I remember it right now, it came from Farnell. The ROM showed all 0's. I was surprised just as you were. In other respects that PIC seemed to be OK. Arkady. ----- Original Message ----- From: "cdb" To: Sent: Wednesday, February 04, 2004 5:05 AM Subject: [PIC]: New Pic not blank? I recently ordered 2, 16f876's 20MHz from a supplier here in Australia. Both failed the blank check, reporting zeros when read, as though code protection had been set AND both have a PortB:1 failure. The production code is week 13/03. I don't normally deal with this supplier, but they were the cheapest in Australia, I needed two quickly, and these chips are supposed to be unused. I just want to check that I'm not getting aerated over nothing. I'm sure all chips I have purchased previously pass the blank check and therefore report FF as the contents. The PortB failure is going to be difficult to convince I suspect. Am I having a blond moment?
