I believe the WISP628 which Wouter supplies is capable of running with a serial/USB converter - which Wouter
also supplies!  :-)

The WISP628 and the Serial/USB converter are both available as kits, but the latter needs you to be able to
solder a tiny Surface Mount chip - something I would find very difficult (I'm clumsy!) so you may want to get
the ready-built version of that.
