It uses a database on the computer to look up exactly how much time to blend for. *ahem* anyways...check out http://www.sxlist.com/techref/io/serial/usb/atapchi/index.html for a small USB Analyzer based on the SX chip. I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but it is inexpensive and should be easy to use.
