Yes, as I also said earlier ;-) "A MC14504 will convert from PIC to 4000 CMOS (hex level shifter). It can go the other way too, but the 4040/50 are cheaper." You can only go one way with each chip because you have to connect Vdd to the desired OUTPUT level. Each handles 1-6 signals. A 4049/4050 will not do the low to high conversion in any case.
