What's wrong? To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Precedence: list X-RCPT-TO: Status: U X-UIDL: 371856648 Everytime I try to help out a client on a programmer (he didn't have a serial port on his XP), I get into trouble. I am running Win2K. My research concluded that the K128 would be ideal, as I'd bought 5 PICPROs from them (Kitsrus), all of which worked perfectly. I bought TWO K128 USB Programmers (designed by Tony N) yet neither of these work. I PROBABLY have installed a wrong driver, but the MICROPRO programming software knows that the programmer is there, and the LED flashes like it has been registered. But when I try to do a BLANK check, I get the catchall error message "Error, etc etc, will reset programmer" and that's all I get. I am testing with 5 PIC16F872's, but its not device dependent, PIC12F675 doesn't work either; in fact none of the listed chips that I have work. The documentation is truly confusing. I haven't a clue as to what to actually install. I installed exactly as indicated by AN232-5, but no tamale. Also, any documentation about how to add a device to the list (F818)? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. And Yes, Wouter, I'd have bought yours if he'd had a serial port. . --Bob -- Replies: NOTE-Script, EXE,BAT and COM files will be rejected by server -------------- Bob Axtell PIC Hardware & Firmware Dev http://beam.to/baxtell 1-520-219-2363 -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu .
