It does look like a great programmer, which is why I'm trying to build = it! :-). The Wisp628 is today a well proven design with a lot of units running "out there". If built according to the specifications, it should work... I built one a year ago (using a "real" (homemade) PCB), and it worked as sson as I had removed a solder bridge. It sounds as the firmware never gets loaded into the 628 properly. Finaly, there *is* a reason Wouter has pre-programmed PICs, Wisp628 kits and ready-built Wisp628's available on his web page, it *might* save you some work :-) Since you probably are going to use your Wisp a lot (?), it could be a good idea to use a proper PCB from the beginning...
