I have the ladder line feeding the loop AT the apex of the roof.  If I were
to replace the ladder line with some coax, I'd just feed the loop with the
coax.  It's supposed to start raining this evening and go through the
weekend - this isn't going to help things any!!

Not likely, but...

Do you have a GOOD RF ground connection to the Tuner?
(Short, Low resistance, Low inductance connection to mother earth!)

Take the RF OUT of the shack with a piece of coax From the tuner to
the feedline at least 15 feet from the dwelling.  Skip the balun for
now, just connect the ladder line to the coax OUTSIDE the dewlling!

Unless you are measuring the feedpoint with an antenna analyzer of some sort
it makes no sense to add a balun.  I hope I made that point.

You can choke off some of the common mode currents by coiling some coax up
at the
connection to the ladder line.  This may be enough to stop your RFI.
