I have the Sony 200 CD changer (I think I paid something like US $165 a few years ago). I interfaced it to a crummy 68HC705C8 with two serial port drivers (it's a board the outfit I work for uses in their products so I swiped one) because the Sony has a crude sort of control protocol. My idea was to run it from an old Seeberg jukebox booth console. There I planned to use a PIC to communicate with the '05. I had the '05 firmware working when the wife shot down the idea on aesthetic grounds. She's probably right and I wasn't looking forward to printing out all those paper song indexes. My point is that the high capacity CD player is already on the market with nearly every feature you could want and ready for external automation. Gotta wonder how much of your time US$168 would buy... Win Wiencke -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
