I just got a gps kit from www.codereward.org about a week ago. it has an amazingly small and lightweight ic from trimble. i liked it so much, i just sent an [AD:] to this list, so if you read that one, you know what i'm referring to. I put the kit in my RC plane. i mounted the gps antena under the wing, where it attaches to the fuselage. the monocoat posed no problem for the satellite signal. so far, i've only used this to log my flight route to a pic's onboard eeprom, then map it using gpsdrive (free linux prog), but i've got a few other ideas. one thing that wasnt too practical is that the antena comes with 5Meters of extension, which i had to tuck away inside the plane (i have a big one). i think i'll get an antenna with a shorter extension. the kit is at: http://www.codereward.org it runs about $83, but is simply impressive. -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
