Using a JDM might be a choice for the lowest cost per programmer, but I would suggest a 'serious' programmer, which in my opinion is one that uses a port (serial,parallel,USB) for data communication only, not for the actual programming communication. My DB016 board is aimed at loweest-cost-per-seat: one bord per seat (with bootloader), on real programmer per classroom.
