UAlberta? Greetings from Calgary, fellow Albertan. :) > H & H isn't about PCB design. > The ARRL handbook has a lot of good tips for circuit > design, ham radio people being very creative, and > cheap . Heh heh heh...Frugality inspires Creativity? I know a few people that should have that on a bumper sticker. Maybe I'll get one of the ARRL books too... but designing the PCBs isn't the problem. I'm talking about the circuit design part itself; for example, adding some hardware to null the offset of a wheatstone bridge type strain sensor (part of a USB-enabled bathroom scale). All I remember about the Wheatstone bridge was what I read in my Radio Shack 160-in-1 project kit before skipping over it and going to a circuit that had flashing lights or made noises. (Hey, I was only 12. :) ) A resistor, pot, and +5v was what I eventually went with, but at first I had visions of software compensation or using opamps to zero it. Oh foolish me! > You are best off looking at the many projects > published in magazines like Circuit Cellar (#1 in my > book), EPE (Everyday and Practical Electronics) and > the like. Will do, thanks for the advice. > Hence my point about THOUGHT being important. Yeah, in years past I've jumped into projects without thinking too much and wound up starting over. That was before discovering the immense value of designing something first instead of trying to build and design at the same time. ;) - Todd. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
