That's rarely the reason someone would crack into a box. Rarely are attacks these days to get to your "information" unless you're collecting payment/credit-card information. Usually today's casual attacker wants to hide running applications on your machine to a) spam, b) Distributed DoS someone, c) distribute illegal software/file sharing, d) brag to their other 15-year-old (either truly, or mentally) friends.
