I had a look in "Readme for PICSTART Plus.txt" and the 628 (whether that's 628 and 628A it doesn't say) is covered by a note about f/w 2.30 or greater. My PS+ is also 3.11, in a windowed C44, which I figured would be more economical than OTPs so I guess I could upgrade if 4.10 isn't going to cause problems with the other PICs and projects I have ongoing. I have to say I'm a little reluctant to upgrade after experiencing FUBBs with MPLAB and silicon. But I can always go back a step if it doesn't work out.
