Just get battery clips from Keystone and put them at the appropriate distance for your battery. The clips are held in place by the PC board, and they hold the ends of the battery quite firmly in place while making contact with them. Another nice feature is that the same part works for all batteries of the same diameter. The length is just a function of how you lay out the clips on the PC board. They are cheap too.
