Two suggestions: RF Design for the Radio Amateur, by Doug DeMaw and Wes Hayward. Available from the ARRL (www.arrl.org) Despite the title, it does the most cogent job of explaining the basics of electronic design that I have seen. A little long in the tooth, but *really* good. The Art of Electronics, by Horowitz and Hill. Simply the best reference that I have ever seen for electronic design. Very readable at all levels and it tells you what you need to know without a lot of spurious equations. More importantly, it explains *why* you need to know something. Those two books taught me more about my craft than 5 years of big-ten university engineering school did.... Edward Gisske, P.E.
