The remarks I quoted above are a good indication! You are quite right, the
solution *is* probably something simple. And you are sure to solve it with
a bit more brain sweat.

I have very little experience and not much advice to offer but I do
remember that Dave Dilatush published a "how-to" example of relocatable
file stuff a while back.  Hopefully, he might have some suggestions for
you.  Although I have never used macros, I would guess they can easily be
accomodated.  With the vast amount of code you have waiting to port across,
the work will be worthwhile.
