I do check that when I have an issue that I suspect to be a compiler bug, for if someone else has noticed the same thing too. Also, at the forum there are Microchip people present and you can get some answers to very complex questions about C18 for example. Like some time ago when I was writing the pre-emptive RTOS for 18F452, forum and later the actual people who wrote the compiler were very helpful in clarifying some undocumented features of the compiler that helped me to understand how the compiler works and what kind of code it creates. (A MUST for someone writing a context switch interrupt.) I even managed to get in some suggestions for new features. So, I think for basic programming problems you get your answer faster if you post it here. If you problem however is very complicated or you want to squeeze the last drop out of some development system, then the forum is for you. In there you might find knowledge that only exists inside microchip. So, I feel not that piclist and the forum are competitors, they just overlap on some points, both still adding to the whole PIC experience. - K -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
