I correct myself: The article about a remote engine starter was in Computer Craft magazine December 1993 (wow) and it uses a 16C54 on rc clock (but a more modern PIC would be drop in pin-compatible). There is no software, only outline diagrams. They measure the rpm using tacho pulses fed to the TRCC. The article mentions installation only in cars with EFI and automatic gears. A wiring diagram for the installation is shown, as well as a full schematic. Was sold as a kit by Simple Design Implementations POB 9303 Forestville CT (USA) for $79 and the preprogrammed pic alone was available for $20. One thing I wanted to ask is, what if one accidentally starts the car and forgets it running ? Does the system turn it off ? I understand that the people in Canada leave it running anyway in winter.
