Practically it means that there's a limit to how much you can stretch
a wave or how many cycles you can see on the screen. For example
my 100MHz scope will lock on a 50MHz signal (as Olin said, it's
about how fast the scope can respond) but I can't make one cycle
fill the screen, ie there's one cycle per 20ns graticule division or 10
cycles across the width of the screen
