Or at least the 18F452 that came with it. I can still get some of the programs to work, like the bttn.asm and a2d.asm, but when I reload the 18demo.hex, the display shows garbage. The chip sort of works, as in one line of the display works ok, but the other is garbage. It seems I can still get limited functionality out of it. When I put the pre-programmed 16F part in, it works fine. I think I must have tried to remove the 18F part from the PICDEM hardware with the power still applied. Oops. Either that, or an errant ESD pulse. Using the ICD2 and PICDEM2+ as a programmer is orders of magnitude faster than the PICSTART+ I guess I'm going to have to be more careful as this project progresses.
