Now I'd say that's the expensive route....that fuser is 30 to 50K!!! You = can get an epoxy kit and some great testing tools for under 5K.. It's not = that hard to cleave and polish....one afternoon of doing it and your an = expert. UV cure and your not even in a hurry! Cutting $50 patch cables for the $3.50 ends.....that's a bit harsh.... My 2 cents... Tim >>> Dan@OELKE.COM 12/23/03 11:48AM >>> I worked for one company that made fiber to the home equipment and another that made SONET equipment (again fiber optics based) We didn't put our = own ends on in either place. One was a startup and the other a huge multi-national that had a whole division in another country that made = fiber components. We just bought a number of jumpers of various lengths and kept them on hand. Even our customers often didn't make their own jumpers or put their own ends on buried cables. They bought the jumpers and for putting ends = on they would buy pig-tail ends and fusion splice those onto the existing = fibers. So - yes you can do it - but from what I've seen I wouldn't recommend it = as it's just cheaper to inventory what you might need than to buy the = equipment.
