Actually, I've been using a Warp13a for several years and have found it to be quite useful. What version of Windows are you running this under? Have you tried just telling MPLab to use it as a PICStart+? Also, do make sure that you have it connected to the serial port you say you do, and that you have power to the unit. Have you looked at the Newfound Electronics website to see if there are any helpful tips there? I expect you'll be hearing from Jim Robertson, the man behind the curtain, before too long. He's been very helpful to me on the one or two occasions I've had trouble and posted here on the PICList. I'd agree with Jan-Erik: don't knock it until it works and you have had a chance to give it a fair shake.
